Dr. Amy: Hey animal chiropractic friends! Dr. Amy here, President and Co-Founder of Animal Chiropractic Education Source (ACES). I'm excited to be here today with Dr. Lane Torres. She's an equine veterinarian practicing in Central Florida—just north of Orlando.
Dr. Amy: Dr. Lane, what were you looking for when you started your animal chiropractic training?
Dr. Lane Torres: I've been an equine veterinarian for about 15 years, and I noticed that while the treatment methods I used often helped my patients feel better, they didn’t always heal. I was searching for a way to truly help my patients heal. I had this sense that chiropractic could be part of that answer. So I started looking for a way to learn the skills and bring that level of care into my practice.
Dr. Amy: Was there something specific in your experience that made you believe chiropractic could be the missing piece?
Dr. Lane Torres: Yes—my own personal health journey. I’ve had severe back trauma in the past, and chiropractic care was what saved me. It brought me back to health when traditional medicine actually made me feel worse. That experience really stuck with me. I figured if it could do that for me, it could do the same for my patients.
Dr. Amy: So what led you to choose ACES for your training?
Dr. Lane Torres: I’m the kind of person who goes all in. If I was going to get trained, I wanted the best education available—something that would truly prepare me to go back to my patients and start making a difference right away. After talking to people in the field and doing a lot of research, everything pointed to ACES. And honestly, it’s lived up to that. I feel like I’ve received the best education in animal chiropractic that’s out there.
Dr. Amy: That’s great to hear! How did you know you were on the right path—what made it clear that the training was working?
Dr. Lane Torres: I had results right away. After just my first module, I was already able to help patients heal. I could adjust confidently, safely, and effectively—and I could see the difference. I’d also seen other animal chiropractors before, so I had something to compare it to. But this training gave me tools that worked immediately. That was a huge confirmation for me.
Dr. Amy: That’s exactly what we want—to empower doctors to go home and start helping right away. Because those animals are already waiting, right?
Dr. Lane Torres: Absolutely. They’re waiting. And now I can help them without delay.
Dr. Amy :What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen since adding chiropractic into your practice? In your life, your patients, anything that stands out?
Dr. Lane Torres: I’ve had several geriatric horses who were just losing quality of life. With chiropractic, not only has their quality of life improved—they’re even going under saddle again. Not because they have to, but because they want to. It’s restoring joy and function in these animals.
There’s one horse in particular—he couldn’t even get on or off the trailer when I started. After just four adjustments, he’s trailering confidently, and his owner’s granddaughter is back riding him again. It’s amazing.
Dr. Lane Torres :For me personally, it’s brought peace and satisfaction. For the first time in my career, I feel like I’m truly helping my patients heal. That’s something I’d been searching for, and now I have it. I leave a farm knowing I made a real difference. That peace of mind is priceless.
Dr. Lane Torres: Plus, it’s made my day-to-day work more manageable. I’m seeing more patients, have more flexibility in my schedule, and I end the day feeling fulfilled instead of drained.
Dr. Amy: That’s powerful. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for the work you’re doing in the field. Your patients—and their people—are lucky to have you.
