I have always been an animal lover having grown up with cats, dogs, horses, birds, fish, turtles, & lizards. I got started in animal chiropractic and enrolled at A.C.E.S. because although I knew I would get into it one day, it wasn't until one of my patients had her dog hit by a car and I was frustrated that I didn't have all the skills required to help this animal get fully back on track, that I decided to get started on my animal chiropractic journey. I love adjusting dogs the best because it is so rewarding to see their personalities come back once they get out of pain. A noteworthy case began when I had someone reach out to my office asking if I could help a 5 year old dachshund that had apparently paralyzed itself in its hind legs and was incontinent. The owner had been told by their vet that the only option was surgery for 15-20k and that under no circumstances should they allow their dog to be touched by a chiropractor. I told the owner I would do my best and that their dog would be safe with me. Upon examination, the dog had many small issues, but no huge areas of concern. The next morning after the first adjustment the dog was able to stand again, and had regained control over their bowel movements. After the second visit, the dog was able to walk again although clumsily. After the third visit the dog appeared normal to the casual observer and was able to return to all normal activity. Total cost to the owner was $300 and it took 15 days to restore normal movement to the dog. The owner was overjoyed and now brings the dog in for monthly check ups and maintenance care. I hope people understand that chiropractic care is safe and can benefit any animal with a spine. I am happy to be able to provide care to the animals in my community and give owners another option for the care of their pets.
